A jerk is a jerk, no matter how cute. #

He recently moved to the area and shops at my store. He has a boyish face, with blue eyes and a sweet shy smile. He came through my line, and I thought it was cute that he was practically speechless. There was no patter, no lines dropped – just this thunderstruck look on his face. I called him on the lack of patter – he said he just wasn’t good at that kind of thing.
(At my age, EVERYONE has a pickup line. EVERYONE.)
A few days later I needed to go by the store. He was there in line. I’m not sure how I managed it, but I beat him out of the store. When he came out of the store, I pulled around and rolled the window down.
We spoke briefly, and he gave me his number. I waited about 45 minutes before I called.
The conversation went STRAIGHT to sex talk. He used the word “muff”. He asked how long it had been since I’d had any. And told me exactly how long it’d been since he’d had a partner.
What astounds me… what had my jaw thumpin the floor HARD is that we had the “nice guy” conversation. He really does think he’s a nice guy. He complained – a *lot* – about the girls who ignore him in favor of “jerks”.
Unfortunately, the next time I see him I will most likely be on the clock. It would be MOST unprofessional of me to pull him to the side and say “You’re a jerk.”
It’s enough that I made sure he’ll never call me again. I just feel sorry for the next woman he hits on…
