Our First Woman Mayor

Hidden at the bottom of the Winston-Salem Journal’s Regional Briefs: Dawn Morgan has been selected to be Kernersville’s first woman mayor. She replaces Curtis Swisher, who resigned as mayor on January 10 to become our town manager.

Dawn contributes (contributed?) an editorial column to the Kernersville News. Hopefully she’ll keep writing a column as Mayor.

Side Rant: I would LOVE to link you to her column, but the Kernersville News Website is ugly and doesn’t seem to actually contain any *news* other than the “headlines”. I’ve complained about this before, and I’m not surprised that the site looks the same.

This just in: Kernersville gets featured in Southern Living Magazine

in the November 2007 Carolina Living section. Is there any local coverage of this occasion?

Not on the Kernersville News website

Not on Kblog (Kernersville’s “city” blog through the Winston-Salem Journal)

You would think that the Chamber of Commerce or the Town of Kernersville might bring it up. Being featured in a magazine of this size should be all OVER the Town’s publicity pages. But? You would be wrong.

(Side note: Kernersville News? You might want to get in touch with the Chamber’s website designer. That blue and red is downright painful. And yes, I realize I’m probably the only person who actually looks at the website. Humor me, please?)

Oh wait. Maybe they’re waiting for November 1st to actually GET here before it gets talked about in the local news.

Right?
