This year, I decided to do something a bit different. My cinderblock garden wasn’t ideally placed last year (in the shade) so I dismantled it. In its place?

Why yes, Virginia – those are indeed cardboard boxes full of dirt.
And yes, I know it probably won’t last more than one season. That’s perfectly OK – I don’t expect it to last more than one. HOPEfully, by this time next year, I’ll have a wooden above-ground paradise just waiting for me.
So far I’ve sown rocket and a mesclun salad mix in the earthboxes, and sugar snaps in the cardboard. I’m holding off on further planting until the weather stops doing things like this…

Somehow I think my rocket sprouts might just be in a bit of a shock.
