I wish I were making this up….but it’s still good for a laugh.

We’re in the car, driving to pick up another friend of Alannah’s. Nirvana comes on the radio, and I put my hands on the radio control buttons, prepared to defend my music when….she starts singing along.

Me: Alannah? When did YOU start listening to Nirvana??!!??
Alannah: *hangs her head slightly* When Evanescence covered the song.
Katie pipes up from the back seat: I LOVE Nirvana, I have two of their CDs!!!!
Me: Okay, 50 point bonus question. Who was Kurt Cobain married to?
Katie: I don’t know, I just like the music.
Alannah: Yeah, what SHE said!
Me: *sigh* Kurt Cobain was married to Courtney Love.

Alannah: Courtney Love Hewitt??!!??

I brought my pencil….GIMME SOMETHIN TA WRITE ON.

Yeah, so the boys? Sick. Dimetapp is our friend at the moment. They finally stopped running away from me at medicine time (WHY do they always run??!!??) and have even gone so far as to self-dose. As long as it’s in the medicine syringe. Apparently, as long as it’s kinda-sorta like shooting a watergun, it’s OK.

So The Teen? We’re still in talks about public schooling. I know we need to hurry the hell up and decide something since school starts at the end of the month. For the record?

DO NOT WANT.

I’m just sayin’.

The Folks ™ are sick as well. Other than that, not much new to report. Their quest for a new home is pretty much at a standstill. Yay for me.

Have you been stumbled yet?

I have been using and abusing the StumbleUpon Toolbar for Firefox addon for quite some time, but color me stupid: it never occurred to me to stumble my own blogposts. This morning, however, I had a message from another stumbler: He had reviewed my “Oh look! Kitteh! post, and hoped that it would result in a bit of traffic for me.

stumblestats.jpg

I’d say that’s a “yes”, wouldn’t you? (And for You People who Live For Stats – that graph doesn’t include feeds served.)

There is, however, a distinct downside to this effect. Although my “world map” view is full of dots from here to New Zealand in the last 24 hours, there don’t seem to be many reviews of the post (unless I’m totally looking in the wrong place.). This means that people have FOUND it but aren’t giving it the thumbs up/down. Since SU is essentially a viral web app, not having reviews means the page won’t be perpetuated. Since it’s a fluff quiz post my heart isn’t broken, but I would truly be upset that a post I’d poured my heart and soul into just stopped.

And another thought occurred as I was writing this. Once I find a blog I like, I add it to my google reader page – and never give SU ratings another thought. This bothers me, and I do believe that since I’m stuck on the sofa ANYWAY, I’ll be going back through my reader archives, rating posts. There really should be a way to rate posts through the feed…
