Add me to the Verizon Sucks crowd.

I know, I know prepaid phones are disproportionately expensive. I don’t have regular income, therefore that’s what we stick with.

The Teen picked out a verizon inphone with camera. She’s supposed to earn her cell phone fees by doing chores. Today I had to delete my credit card on file. Their website deducted the $15 minimum from my banking account when I entered a PIN from a minutes card I bought. At least, that’s what I’m assuming happened – I never spoke with a customer service rep. After holding and holding and holding, I gave up. I’m thinking this is it.

There’s somethin’ wrong with this thing

I think I’m in love with your new endeavor, We101. I’d love to join it, but, it highlights a perpetual dilemma – do I join the Winston bloggers, or the Greensboro ones?

As of right now, I don’t know of any other bloggers in Kernersville (and if you ARE in Kville, speak up!) but since I’ve been spending equal time in both cities here lately, I’d like to know where to hang my hat.

Thanks everso!

Wee bit of an update:

The position was offered to someone else. Good thing I went ahead and registered for a full load of classes next semester.

I’d gone back and edited the OP, but I’ll re-iterate: The child support case was continued. My next day in court will be on his fourth birthday. Yes, I’m cranky about it. No, at the moment I don’t know if it can be rescheduled. No, I don’t know WHY we’re doing this since he’s not responded to any mailed paperwork. I know at some point the judge will most likely issue a bench warrant. How much good that will do since he’s out of state is anyone’s guess.

Off to find something for the boys to do (other than annoy the crap out of each other)…..

Meet The Bloggers: Esbee

  • Posted on June 28, 2007 at 1:41 pm

My latest attempt to meet some of the local bloggers and hang out landed Esbee, me, and our boys at Fourth of July Park.

The boys played, bouncing from play area to play area to swings and back. And believe it or not, we didn’t talk about blogging a whole lot LOL.

What did we do? Sweat buckets. (Yes, really.)

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go hose myself and the boys down and rehydrate.

It’s all downhill from here!

Less of a gauntlet than I thought…

Yesterday, when looking at my calendar, I just *knew* today would be stressful, unpleasant, and long. Y’see, last month I received a friendly invitation to appear in court for one of my child support cases (each one of my three children has their own caseworker and separate case). I walked out the door this morning dressed appropriately, but forgot my book.

As it turns out, more time was spent driving to and from the courthouse than I actually spent IN the courtroom.

He wasn’t there, hasn’t acknowledged receipt of any paperwork, and keep in touch with my caseworker in case there are any changes.

Truthfully, I didn’t expect him to show up. He lives out of state, we don’t communicate, he’s not involved in our lives whatsoever. I do wish we could put the DNA part to rest though.

**Update – A new court date has been scheduled.

It’s all about the customization: WordPress Plugins

  • Posted on June 25, 2007 at 10:52 pm

Plugins and widgets; widgets and plugins. Together they help create a simple way to customize your blog, adding functionality and doing their subtle part to make your blog YOURS in the vast ocean that is the internet. I’m going to touch briefly on the plugins I use, and what they’re for.

Cforms II – handles my “contact me” page. This plugin really has my mind working overtime, now that I don’t have to CODE a questionnaire if I want to use one.

Sideblog is responsible for “the things that run through my head” to the left. Well, it’s not responsible for the actual thoughts, don’t let’s be silly. I come up with that stuff ALLLLLLLLL on my own (and doesn’t THAT frighten you just a bit?)

Brian’s Threaded Comments – allows me to respond in thread format to comments left here. I use it in conjunction with the Better Comments Manager, which allows me to respond to comments in the admin panel instead of on the page itself.

Comment Timeout – automatically closes the comment thread after a specific amount of time. Also automatically rejects comments with BBcode, and checks the comment queue against Akismet and Bad Behavior for the last seven days. (I *heart* this plugin!!!)

DoFollow – Disables the automatic rel=”nofollow” attributes that get added to your external links. Dougal explains the whys and wherefores better than I.

AutoMeta automatically generates Meta and Technorati tags. Generally speaking, I save and preview my posts before publishing them, and then peek at what tags have automatically appeared. Sometimes I add my own, most of the time I leave it alone.

LiveJournal CrossPoster (LJXP) – allows me to be lazy and keep my LJ friends updated without having to post to two different places.

Copyfeed – Adds a copyright tag to my feed, and has a click-through page that automatically performs a search on the digital fingerprint you select. If you read my blog in a feed reader – this is what adds the “stealing makes baby Jesus cry” part.

Instant Upgrade – one click instant upgrade. I use this for the “little” upgrades, but when a full-version release comes down the trunk I do it manually. I have every confidence in the plugin’s ability to handle a full-version upgrade, but sometimes you just want to clean house.

WP-DB-Backup – automatically backs up my database and sends it to me in a handy-dandy little email by hooking into the wp-cron system. Also has an option for a one-click immediate backup.

And there you have it. Yes, it’s something of a sparse list, but I just trimmed everything down to the bare minimums. When I add more, you’ll know ;)

We interrupt your regularly scheduled blogposts…
