How evil are you?

Via Karl, the Truly Evil

I made it through the rest of the week…

I’ve spent the last few days taking it easy. The sudden chilly snap brought forth all the aches and pains that I’d managed to work my way through. We’re still going to the Folly, but our plans have changed to a nice non-commital “we’ll see how we feel and go from there”. Unless it’s still raining, in which case all bets are off…sending my boys off into a crowd with umbrellas is fraught with hazard.

Until later…

I really wish it didn’t take three days to recover from a weekend like this one…

Hear ye, hear ye….

The Kernersville Spring Folly is this weekend; that’s May 4 – 6 for you folks who absolutely LIVE by the calendar.

The boys are FINALLY old enough to ride the rides, and if I can just set aside the germophobic freak inside for ONE day (but he JUST got over a 2-day stomach virus!!!!) we will be there with bells on.

Unfortunately, as of right now, it looks like we will be there sans camera. Following in the footsteps of it’s much less expensive cellphone brethren, it took a dip in the creek.

The Mama, she is NOT HAPPY about this particular development. Not Happy at ALL. For those not keeping track, this is the fourth digital camera I’ve bought since we moved home. The HP Photosmart 720 was my first purchase and was a spectacular piece of crap. The Vivitar digital camera was dropped by my erstwhile babysitting job. The first Fuji Finepix….disappeared after a weekend spent with A’s new friend (that she’s no longer allowed to hang out with, thankyouverymuch). The second Finepix will be buried tomorrow, most likely.

ANYWAY…. Korner’s Folly will be open for $1 tours on the 6th (Sunday) from 10am to 5PM. That’s a $5 discount from regular admission, folks – and given that it’s the World’s Strangest House (Seven levels, three floors….I’m starting to think that Charlie’s next Chocolate Factory adventure should be shot there!!!!!) it’s an event not to be missed.

There’s also a Walking Tour of the Historic District but I haven’t been able to find more than a listing of houses & addresses. A graphical map would do wonders…

Wow, I’m starting to sound like a tourist pamphlet. Come to the Folly, and enjoy yourselves like you know we will be ;)

Minor change in the blog’s footprint:

I’ve added a sideblog for those “one sentence” moments in life. (LJ readers, it’ll still come up as a normal post for you.)

Since the desktop-to-laptop migration is complete, digging through the photo archives to create a new header is next on the list. I may even go theme-shopping too. I’m especially enamored of the three-column format, so who knows what’ll happen. Given the glacial pace at which I modify the blog, who knows WHEN it’ll happen.

*heh*

I LOVE the edges!!!! *added to amazon wishlist*

Holly stopped babbling long enough to interview me…

1) What fictional character would you like to meet? Why?
You mean I gotta choose just one??!!?? ACK!

ONE??!!??

Okay, one.

One one one one one one one. *flips through the mental rolodex* One. Fictional. Character.

You did this to me on purpose, didn’t you?

One. Uhm. Hrm.

I give up. I’ve been sitting on this interview for two days trying to think of an answer. I Just can’t pick ONE!!!!

2) Are you the adult you envisioned yourself to be? Why or Why not?

To be honest, I never envisioned myself as an “adult”. And I’m pretty positive that most of the folks I went through school with would be absolutely gobsmacked to find out that I’ve managed to reproduce a few times. And that I blog…

3) What’s your favorite book? Why?

Again with the “one”? I don’t have The Ring, I promise!!!!

You KNOW what my bookshelves look like, WHY are you asking me to pick *one*?

Anyways….

I continually refer to The Complete Tightwad Gazette. Out of the very many books on my shelves, this one has the most notes written in the borders LOL. It’s chock full of black-belt tightwaddery, and I can read it and say “I’m not quite that desperate yet!” or “Wow, I never thought of that…we’ll have to try it!” My World Famous Basic Pizza Dough is the Tightwad Gazette recipe ;) (and yes, I know – now that I’ve mentioned it, I have to post a cook-along :P )

4) Why do you blog?

When I started blogging, it was a way for me to work through the breakup, moving back in with my folks, and that post-partum hormone crash. It’s cheaper than a psychiatrist, yanno, and I don’t have to schedule an appointment or limit myself to an hour (or whatever passes for standard psych appointments these days). To be honest, I’ve considered deleting the first year or two of my archives because it makes me cringe. Right now, I’m leaving them – I just don’t READ them.

I still blog because I’ve gotten in the habit. Telling stories has always come naturally to me, and once the realization that every.single.detail. isn’t really necessary, it’s become easier. I’ve never worried about “who’s reading”, although I’m endlessly fascinated by my “search string” stats. Ditto with blogvertising – this is an exercise in self-indulgence. Therefore, sticking ads in my backyard ain’t happenin’ anytime soon. Also, it’s a good way to let my friends get a general idea of what’s happening in our lives without having to worry about time differences.

5) What super power would you like to have?

That’s a good question. I already have the ability to detect scent at a ridiculous distance, and I’m invisible (easier to pounce that way, y’know)….hrm. Does Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth count as a superpower? Bondage and honesty in one fell swoop….

If not, then I think I’ll have to go with the ability to mega-refresh myself. I’d like to be able to get through the day without worrying that I’ll collapse from exhaustion before the boys are in bed.

If you want to continue, here are the rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the
questions.
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else
in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five
questions.
