We did end up going to the Spring Folly *late* today. I was prepared for the sea of humanity, I was *not* prepared for Southern Gospel Music with a thumpin’ bass.
Y’know the scene in “Finding Nemo” where Darla’s tapping on the glass of the fishtank? Yeah, that’s what thumpin’ bass sounds like inside my head. Is NOT fun for Da Mama.
Like an idiot, I didn’t grab the backpack and stick a few drinks for the boys in it. Thought about it, then brushed off the thought with a “naaaaw, it’s the last day, it won’t be THAT bad!” *eyeroll*
Daniel wanted to ride the ferris wheel, but we couldn’t. The seats didn’t seem to be wide enough to accomodate the three of us, and well…obviously, I had no other options.
The trainride was the first thing they hopped on. It was a good starter ride – just a train, on a track, going in about a 15′ or so circle. (Please note: that is a guess. When it comes to things like that, ask someone OTHER than me if it’s an important measurement.)
Next up was the flying cars. The look on the boys faces was PERFECT when they realized they were up in the air higher than my head.
This is where the picture would be. If I still had a digital camera!!! (glares menacingly at the daughter’s bedroom door.)
Our last ride was the merry go round. I got lucky – found two horses together, so all I had to do was stand there and smile at the boys as we rode.
The smell…ohmygod the smell. Half a mile down the road I was drooling over the scent. You know…FAIR FOOD!!!!! And then we got there and hit the Wall Of Smell. Hot grease and turkey legs and deep fried lard on a stick. It hung over the park assertively, flavoring our every breath.
We were there for about 1 1/2 hours. OH! Dan got his first portajohn experience out of the way. Fortunately, it was clean. Unfortunately, his nose is just as sensitive as mine (if not more so) and you could smell the air freshener outside the door. The poor kid was gagging before he got fully unzipped.
I think that covers everything we did. Basically this turned out to be a trip to the park with carnival rides on the grounds LOL.
