You would truly laugh your behind off if you looked at my calendar. This semester, the buzzword is
ENDURANCE
Classes 3 days a week, homeschool group meetings, lectures I need want HAVE to attend, performances with the school’s chorale, on top of the housewifey laundry/grocery shopping/cooking/parenting.
I just *now* ordered two of my textbooks from Amazon.com because the school bookstore doesn’t have one in stock, and wants $100 for the other one. ($100 for a book that I won’t need after this semester? I don’t THINK so.)
There is Drama on campus this semester. The Dean of Continuing Studies (and also? My advisor!!!!!!!) quit. Ohmygod I can’t believe she quit. QUIT! The entire reason I chose this school was because of her personality – she helped me believe in myself when *I* didn’t. I took my baby to the Information Session and I nursed him at that meeting. AND SHE DIDN’T SAY SQUAT TO ME!!!! Her office is empty…
(I didn’t think it bothered me all that much. I guess I was wrong.)
Yes, it is a sign that there are deeper problems on campus. I’ve deliberately stuck my head in the sand on some of them because they don’t directly affect me, are things that I can’t really help with, or are flat out unsubstantiated gossip. There’s a certain amount of insulation that comes with being a Continuing Studies student, and I *like* that insulation.
It’s officially time for my next class, so I’ll leave you for the time being. Enjoy your day!
