I abhor polarizing issues. Truely, honestly. I resent the hell out of being “either/or” when the reality is – I’m both. Don’t tell me it’s a black or white issue. Between black and white is the rainbow. Because of this annoyingly restrictive black or white box everyone insists on placing the issue in, I must side with “choice”.
Personally, I believe that abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. I believe that each and every woman going for an abortion should receive both medical and psychological monitoring above and beyond what is offered now – especially afterwards.
Your body is a souçon of hormones from the day the egg is fertilized onward. A veritable melange of body/baby supporting goodness, burbling through your veins. When you terminate the pregnancy, those hormones are still flowing through your body.
It ain’t a walk in the park when your hormones crash, people.
To terminate a pregnancy is an intensely personal decision. To add political debate and someone else’s mores and values to that decision insults me in ways you can’t begin to imagine.

here here! choice is the answer in all things. if it comes down to restricting freedoms v. preserving rights … preserving rights should ALWAYS win.
tj: that’s assuming that it’s the mom’s rights and not the baby’s that you’re talking about, eh? otherwise, different decisions might ensue.
emily: when are you coming back to a meetup? you’ve been missed.
