I’m a bit more settled now than I was. Well, at least – until Monday at 6PM if my books STILL aren’t here yet.
Doing my reading at home still presents something of a challenge. I sit down on the sofa, get out my book, and suddenly sprout two boys who want to “help me read”. Unfortunately, thus far they refuse to be distracted by movies, music/playtime, or reading their own books.
My knees haven’t been bothering me as much as I thought they would (knock wood) but by the end of the day, I’m still having a hard time going up that last set of steps.
ASSuming I can get my reading done, this weekend is going to be spent in another reorganization of the living room. I went to the storage trailer to do a quick book survey, and they’re not handling the environment very well. I can deal with musty smells, but I will NOT allow them to get to the point of molding.
New bookshelves are on the shopping list, as well as a new media/entertainment center. The one we’re using is old, is particle board, and is starting to sag in the middle. The current plan is to get something large enough for our current system PLUS a computer to manage our growing media collection. Ideally, I’d digitize all our VHS (to a hard drive), as well as use the computer as a DVR/DVD.
Is it painfully obvious that the computer system lives in my brains “want list”?
In homeschooling news, outside of the problems inherent in running a computer with a pentium-s processor, Switched On Schoolhouse seems to be working well for Alannah. I’m hoping to have my old computer up and running soon, which will make for a MUCH happier homeschooled kid.
I’ve gotten the boys’ curriculum mostly together. Between the books we already own and the few things I want to purchase, we should be ready to “formally” start schooling next month.
