Allllrighty then.

I’m a bit more settled now than I was. Well, at least – until Monday at 6PM if my books STILL aren’t here yet.

Doing my reading at home still presents something of a challenge. I sit down on the sofa, get out my book, and suddenly sprout two boys who want to “help me read”. Unfortunately, thus far they refuse to be distracted by movies, music/playtime, or reading their own books.

My knees haven’t been bothering me as much as I thought they would (knock wood) but by the end of the day, I’m still having a hard time going up that last set of steps.

ASSuming I can get my reading done, this weekend is going to be spent in another reorganization of the living room. I went to the storage trailer to do a quick book survey, and they’re not handling the environment very well. I can deal with musty smells, but I will NOT allow them to get to the point of molding.

New bookshelves are on the shopping list, as well as a new media/entertainment center. The one we’re using is old, is particle board, and is starting to sag in the middle. The current plan is to get something large enough for our current system PLUS a computer to manage our growing media collection. Ideally, I’d digitize all our VHS (to a hard drive), as well as use the computer as a DVR/DVD.

Is it painfully obvious that the computer system lives in my brains “want list”?

In homeschooling news, outside of the problems inherent in running a computer with a pentium-s processor, Switched On Schoolhouse seems to be working well for Alannah. I’m hoping to have my old computer up and running soon, which will make for a MUCH happier homeschooled kid.

I’ve gotten the boys’ curriculum mostly together. Between the books we already own and the few things I want to purchase, we should be ready to “formally” start schooling next month.

OK, y’all – I need help.

Of the ass-kicking variety.

I have 4 chapters to read in history.

I have 1 to read/review in psych.

Due to a SNAFU of the ordering variety, I don’t even HAVE my sociology texts yet (I originally ordered the wrong books from Amazon and found out about it Tuesday). Sooooo, when they get here, I have to readreadreadread to catch up. Current count? 7 chapters in two different books.

I had a job interview today, went shopping and FINALLY found a decent pair of pants, and bought two new pair of shoes (go me?) for work. The guy said he’d call tomorrow, that I’d need to be able to start Monday, and I’m not really sure if I want the job :-|

It’s enough to make a girl cuss – Part Deux

The last time I picked up my cousin/babysitting job sick from school, we all ended up sick. You would know this because – it JUST HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS AGO.

Today I walk in from class, and guess who’s sitting on the sofa with a fever?

This does NOT please me

An early Valentine’s -

Just got a call about a webmaster project. No actual design, just edit and upload new photos and update links.

I can SO do that job.

But they want someone fulltime, and I’m in class 2 days a week.

Insert your favorite curseword here.

I’m in SO much trouble.

Alannah’s friend spent the night last night and brought over her Xbox. Now Dan wants one so he can play.

Posting because

Eliza told me to!

Shortly after I posted that the universe had a sense of humor, it proved that I had the gift of understatement. I spent nearly 24 hours straight in bed, too sick to lift my head. Orientation at school? Didn’t make it. First day of class? Fuhgeddaboutit.

We’re all mostly better, but have that annoying sorta-congested throat clearing cough.

I have a job interview next week, and I went shopping today to see if I could score a new suit. I’ve tossed nearly every single item of clothing in the closet – once a month or so, a new suit will be purchased. (ASSuming, of course, that I have more successful shopping trips than I had today!)

What? You wanna hear about it? It was an awful nightmare :(

The first thing I bought was a pair of running shoes. It took me forever (and a sacrificed fingernail) to find a pair that fit and was comfortable.

Left the shoestore and went to Cato Plus. I will never ever walk into this store again. The salesclerk snubbed/ignored me (I said “Hi” and smiled, she walked on about her business). There were no interview-quality suitlike outfits in the store anyway.

Left Cato Plus and went to Kohl’s (on Mom’s advice). By the time I FOUND the Women’s department, I was dizzy and nauseous due to the combination of store lighting, perfume department, and buzzing noises here and there. I walked through the department, and realized I was getting too pukey to actually try anything on.

Finally, I went to The Evil Empire. At this point, I know that finding an Interview Suit will not be achieved, but I will look and I Will Find SOMETHING. Drop off my script, make sure I have the grocery list out, and head to the Wimmin’s department.

Hallelujah, they’re clearancing out some things! I go rifle through the rack and find a pair of black pants with white pinstriping, and two blouses. First blouse looks horrible. Take it off and make a note to check for next size down. Second blouse looks worse than the first. And the pants? Oh my gawd the pants….they looked horrible. Details aren’t important….other than to say ARGH!

So I went to buy groceries and I’m trying another store tomorrow.
