The state of things

  • Posted on June 25, 2005 at 11:48 pm

I’ve started and stopped several topics that I just can’t get a handle on.

It annoys me.

The next few weeks are going to be full of FUN things to do. Outside of the PT that Alannah is “suffering” through, we have dental, eye, and dr appointments.

I’m really not in the mood to be poked and prodded. However, since it’s been more than 2 years since I last had an honest-to-goodness physical, I’ll suck it up and deal.

I still haven’t found a job. The folks that interviewed me haven’t called back. Yes, they have a busy office – but I should’ve heard from them by now.

We’ve had some interesting conversations over the last few days:

Mom, I’m going to buy you measuring spoons and cookware that won’t melt.
That would be VERY expensive.
What would be expensive?
Buying those silicon spatulas that won’t melt.
Honey, metal and wood are cheap!

Joe, you’re a stinker, did you know that?
YES!
I love you, did you know that?
YES!

Billy, if you keep talkin like that

you’re gonna give me a big head!

Y’know, I get frustrated with blogging and well… life in general, and then I read something like this.

It makes a girl happy :)

A year in my life

  • Posted on June 19, 2005 at 1:46 pm

has rather quickly gone by. I made no plans, and didn’t achieve a whole lot. As much as I love where I am, I know that I can’t stay here forever. Therefore, it is with grand resolve that I announce my goals for the next 12 months:

Continue losing weight (no matter how much havoc it wreaks on my self-image)
Find employment that I love (or get the business I DO have to be profitable)
Going out on a date probably wouldn’t kill me.
Finding some grown-up friends IRL would most likely be beneficial.

Yeah. THAT’LL work.

Family drama has induced a requirement for laughter. Where do I turn? The Yahoo Personals pages.

seeking people as nice as my dog

Honeylove, there’s no such thing as a person as nice as your dog. However, I hear the Humane Society is always looking for volunteers.

Beauty is in the eye of the Beerholder

*cringes* Yup, glad I live in the South. Cute pic, but I’m not EVEN gonna look at the profile. Punny isn’t always appreciated.

Nurse seeking patience with patients

What in the world does that have to do with looking for companionship? Talk to your job counselor!

A Hard Man is Good to Find

C’mon, this ISN’T the 5th grade – why are you insulting my intelligence?

Sorry, y’all. I can’t look anymore. It BURNS!

Calling all Magic: the Gathering players!!!!

I need your advice, assistance, hand holding, and whatever else you can contribute.

The story is sad, but true. I’m unemployed, not getting child support, and the X left 4 notebooks full of MtG cards in my posession. I’m busily trying to organize and classify them for sale. Here’s where you come in!!!!! I need to know –

Who’s paying well for older cards? Is ebay worth the trouble? What sites do you use for info on the cards themselves? Would it be better for me to sell to a card dealer, or sling up a page and do direct sales?

Please, give a girl a clue!

All hail the anti-spam program!

So I installed a turing test and added more words to my blacklist.

This is a very gooood thing. It makes me happy.

I’m on the home stretch of straightening out our closet. Why is it taking so long? Dude, the closet holds clothes for 3 people, two of which like to yank stuff off shelves and put it elsewhere to be found aeons later.

It was a rather rough weekend for me. A lot of random flotsam* came out of an obviously locked box in my brain, and I spent a good bit of time dealing with all of it.

And that concludes the Monday update – I’ve gotta go get some boys occupied before the closet crashes again.

*Do you know the difference between flotsam and jetsam? Flotsam floats – jetsam doesn’t.

It’s quiet. TOOOO quiet.

  • Posted on June 11, 2005 at 1:24 am

The boys are asleep.

I let the girl go to the beach with our cousin.

The livingroom is acceptably clean.

The laundry is not only mostly folded, but I’m nearly done with the closet purge. FYI – when you have a full laundry basket stacked on top of another full laundry basket, it’s time to clean out. Goodwill’s gonna LOVE me! Next up is organizing the boys clothes into outfits, and seeing if I can fill some wardrobe holes. My folks are convinced that I have no clothes for Dan. (It’s not that we don’t have appropriate clothing for him – but he STRONGLY prefers to be naked. I don’t generally argue the point with him unless we’re going out.)

It feels SOOO good to have that done, though!

This weekend we’re looking for Big Boy Beds for Joe – it’s time for him to move up to a twin size. Unfortunately, we’re also going to be looking for Door Locks of Doom, since the little rugrat likes to unlock and dash out the door before anyone can catch him and say “NO!”

We got word that our neighborhood is going to be impacted by some heavy-duty highway construction. This does not make me happy. Although I’m not crazy about our neighbors, the ‘hood is quiet, the land is paid for, and it’s COZY dammit!

Oh well. Whenever God closes a door, he opens a window.

*looks around* OK, who let Maria the Singing Governess in here??!!??

In other news – my daughter told me today that I do an incredible imitation of the Queen of Hearts.

You heard it here first, folks. I’m a fat, pompous, bad-tempered old tyrant!

OOOOOOOOOOFF WITH HER HEAD!

A productive day thus far

  • Posted on June 7, 2005 at 3:54 pm

I’ve spent all day in front of the computer, but I’m only about halfway through my “work to-do” list. I’m not sure if I should feel accomplished, or frustrated lol.

I have a job interview tomorrow. I’m not really certain how to feel about it. It’s a job that I sent my resume in over a month ago. I guess I’ll just get dressed and show up and see what happens lol. If I remember correctly, it’s another production position. Hopefully it won’t be HARDCORE production. I’m just as fast as I can be, but I need to be able to switch tasks on occasion.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print at this writing – I’ve got oodles of laundry waiting to be folded. *sighs*
