Today was a good day.

We went to the Celtic Festival at Historic Bethabara, toured through the historic buildings, and just hung out together. It was a small festival, but reasonably well put together. I personally would have preferred the children’s activities set up a bit differently, but it wasn’t that bad. Alannah and I got to have several mini-lessons as we went through the buildings. The park employees were all on hand to talk about their specific houses and/or items inside the houses (I didn’t expect this because of the event).

Other activities thus far have included following these directions to make our own hula hoops. I ended up making 3 – one for myself and one each for the girls. They rejoiced in the knowledge that the boys can’t ruin these hoops the way they have every single other cheapo from The Evil Empire. I did make one change to the basic “recipe” – heating the pipe segment isn’t necessary. I hooked both pipe ends on the connector, and “walked” the pipe up onto the connector by moving it up and down. We haven’t insulated or decorated yet – that will happen when the tape gets here. Hopefully I’ll have a camera by then.
