Kidney stones suck.

That is all I can manage right now.

Update: 11:38 AM

OK, I’ve had food and a bit of a nap, I can tell you about my adventure. I went to bed at my usual 1AM, and curled up under the covers thinking “My feet are cold…that means I’m gonna get SICK tomorrow.”

Joe woke to nurse like he always does at 2, and I couldn’t get comfortable. Shivering like nobody’s business, nauseous, I just wanted him to get done and roll over so I could get in the tub and get warm. After a while, he did and then I did.

I spent the next two hours back and forth between the office and the bathroom. I left the lights off to be ABSOLUTELY sure that the boys wouldn’t wake when I ran the water. Did you know that when you already feel bad, sitting in the dark will make it worse? I had myself convinced that either: my appendix had burst, I had broken a rib, ruptured my spleen.

Joe woke at 4 looking for me, and I was so sick and sore I couldn’t pick him up. I told him to “go find Mamaw, honey”. Mom walked in, took one look at me and added another paranoia to the list: gallbladder. Thanks Mom!

Try to get dressed in the dark but having a hard time finding my clothes while carrying a trash can around is difficult under the best of circumstances. I did persevere, however, and off to the ER we went (Dad drove).

Walk in the door, do the triage thing, and the nurse wants to take my blood pressure. I looked at her and said, “OK, but it’s going to be HIGH!” She blinked and looked at me. “Do you have high blood pressure?”

“Uhm, no. I’m in PAIN here woman!”

I did a whole lot of sitting around on pain meds while the stone worked its way down. I get the great joy of meeting with a urologist tomorrow. Well, I’m supposed to call for an appointment tomorrow, that is. Finally got the OK to come home at 9:45.

Now I must go put Joe down for a nap. Take care of yourselves – because nobody else will.

What to do, what to do….

Interesting changes are happening in my House right now.

Mom got a letter from HR. If she retires, she loses her health insurance. This is a Very Bad Thing, since Dad’s self employed (The ONLY reason Mom has a job is for health insurance.) The only option mentioned at the moment is to find out if I can carry them on MY health insurance if/when I get a job. I’ve already told her I don’t think that it’s an option, but I’m supposed to look into it.
Light a candle, say a prayer, and hope she doesn’t get laid off. EVER.

Other than that, not much else is going on. Well, at least that I feel comfortable talking about right now.

I think it’s time for a little nap.

You have NO EXCUSES!

Need something to read and can’t make it to the library? Does your local library draw a major vacuum?

Books Free is your answer. Basically, it’s NetFlix for books. For $7/month, you have a list and they send you what is available – and they have FREE SHIPPING.

Go, my child, and check ‘em out.

Em, I don’t quite understand.

Can you tell me why exactly it is that you keep contacting Joe’s sperm donor ?

One reason, sweetheart. Evidence.

When Joe gets old enough to ask questions, I’ll be able to show him the file of emails sent. I’ll be able to tell him “Honey, the man KNOWS where you are. He knows how to contact me.” Joe can draw his own conclusions from there.

Cold hearted….maybe.
Necessary? Absolutely.

I roasted pumpkin seeds this evening. Slightly burnt, but edible just the same.

Y’know how sometimes when you crack the shells and catch one lonely taste bud and pinch the almighty bejeebus out of it?

Do that 5 or 6 times.

Good thing I won’t be kissin anyone for a while LOL.

Halloween pics are up!
