I joined the local list of Freecycle so that I could unload some of the tons of stuff we have sitting around this house. Listen now as the conversation unfolds:
Mom, I joined the Freecycle list today.
Oh? What do they do?
It’s a wanted/taken board. Folks put up a wanted message, and if you have the item and are willing to let them come pick it up, you email them.
When do they pay for it?
Mom? FREEcycle.
I’m not givin MY stuff away. If I wanted to do that, I’d donate it to the church for the yard sale!
Weren’t you JUST complaining about the amount of storage space we use?
Yes.
OK, the Freecycle thing will help us unload it NOW. We don’t have to store it for a year waiting for the church yard sale.
If they want to pay for it, they can have it.
