“Texas isn’t a cure for athlete’s foot.”

I was talking to a friend online last night, and that’s what she said to me. My feet are getting itchy again, and I’ve wanted to move to TX for a while so I can surround myself with IRL friends instead of online. She lives close to where I want to be (Austin) and provided a pretty good sounding board for the things I need to know (rent, jobmarket, stuff like that). The main problem I have is – with 3 kids, finding someone to crash with while I find an apartment and job is EXTREMELY difficult. After that, lining up kidcare is my next priority. *sighs* Of course, the IDEAL would be to win the lotto so I can continue to stay home with my kids.

Maybe I am looking for things in the wrong way? I dunno. NC isn’t home anymore (not that it ever was much to start with), there’s absolutely nothing for me in FL, I *despised* living in AR with a passion. The few times I’ve been to TX, I’ve had a good time, surrounded by people who share interests with me.

And before you ask, I haven’t just been to one town one time. I’ve been to Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, El Paso, and a whole SLEW of podunk one-horse towns in-between them.

Heh, anyone wanna contribute to the “Send Tink’s family to Texas” fund?
