I am SO not in the mood for this

  • Posted on February 29, 2004 at 8:35 am

comment spammers have found me. Folks, I don’t even HAVE a penis, much less need it enlarged. Looks like it’s time to make some ch-ch-ch-changes.

While I was sleeping

another 3 inches of snow fell. Now, not only do I have sick children, but I have acquired the plague myself. What does being sick have to do with snow? I’ve got meds for everyone BUT me. And with 4 inches of snow on the ground, I can’t get to the store……at least, not til they plow the hill. I would bitch about the intelligence level of the planners who built the road, BUT!!! It’s been there like that since day 1. There’s photographic evidence around here somewhere, but I ain’t gonna find it. Too busy blowing my nose.

I have noticed a lot of political talk in the blogosphere, and wanted to weigh in with my 0.02. You won’t hear me talking about the election. It’s not that I don’t have opinions, BELIEVE me, I do. But, you see, I got burned rather badly at the last election. “How is this possible?” you may ask. Well, it’s rather simple. At the time, I was living in Palm Beach County. Florida. Home of the Hanging Chad and other miscellany. I saw the election volunteers taking write-in ballots to the rest homes to get the vote of people who have a hard time remembering their own name (NOTE: this is a slam of the election volunteers, not the old folks). I listened ad infinitum to the news stories about the ballots, and actually saw some pretty interesting TV interview/exit polls. A few of them actually had that look of uncertainty flashing into realization right there on your local news channel. I listened ad nauseaum to the lame-assed jokes the rest of the world was making about the election, realizing that sarcasm or not, most of it was rather close to the truth.

So, you won’t find me talking about the election. At least, not yet.

Holding a sick toddler

while blogging makes for short entries. We went to the park yesterday, and now the boys are croupy and miserable.

oh I hurt.

I just finished moving the entire livingroom full of furniture. Dispersed it to the nether regions of this house. The sad thing is….I still have to dust off and box up Mom’s books.

I’m not quite sure where we’ll be spending the next few days. If my girlyfriend makes it to NC, we may drive down to her place and stay while we help her unpack (she moved here from TX) OR we’ll go to stay in the renthouse for a few days and I’ll walk on eggshells the entire time we’re there.

Wish me luck!

Good News!

I finally got Mom and Dad in the same room and cleared up the whole work vs school thing. Mom didn’t understand that if I go back to work in December, it will be with an incomplete certification/degree. So, she’s still planning on retiring, but I won’t have to quit school to go to work. I’m so happy it ain’t funny!

Too many toys.

I’ve decided that my kids have too many toys. I went through the three rooms we spend time in and gathered all the toys in a central location. Hopefully, it won’t take me all day to put the little pieces with the big pieces and match everything up. And when it’s all said and done, goodwill here we come. I’ve pretty much decided that we’re going to keep a few of the “big” toys, and chunk the rest now that spring is coming. I plan on keeping them outside as much as humanly possible as the weather gets warmer. I’m also giving consideration to letting Alannah take my old (unused) bookcase and turning it into a barbie townhouse of monumental scale. Paint the walls, carpet the floors (with carpet samples) the works. It will be a good art project for her if nothing else. She wants to try her hand at decorating, so better to do it for barbie and friends than screw up Mom’s white walls and beige carpet.

Now this sounds like a neat idea

A Leap Day in the Life

Take a picture every hour of whatever you’re doing and share your leap day with everyone! :) We’ll be doing it. Although I can honestly promise you – there won’t be a whole lot going on in said pictures LOL!

You’d BETTER not trash my house.

  • Posted on February 21, 2004 at 10:08 pm

Quoth my father this evening. Here’s the situation: They are *finally* having the carpet in the greatroom replaced with hardwood flooring. This carpet is 7 years old, and wasn’t that great of a quality to begin with. Add my children to the mix (potty training, spilled koolaid), and…well, the carpet is trashed. It will take around 4-5 days to replace the flooring, and I am going to go stay in the house I grew up in (it’s now an unoccupied renthouse) with the kids while the work is being done.

When I objected to the statement, IT started. You know – the lecture. How I should work harder to keep this house clean. Folks, I’ve got 3 kids. I’m homeschooling two and breastfeeding one. My priorities are not YOUR priorities. Yes, I know this is not my house. It’s been made crystal clear several times. I’d leave if I could, BELIEVE ME.

Yes, I’m a slob. I said it. OK? Things do get away from me a lot more than I’d like. I’m not house proud. This is NOT MY HOUSE.

Yes, you had a clean house when I was a kid. I had an acre of grass to play in, and kids down the street to ride bikes with. We were never inside to mess it up! Play outside til the sun set, then come in, wolf dinner, bathe, and bed.
My kids have to go to the park or to the Y to play. I don’t like them playing outside in this yard. There’s too much heavy equipment laying around to get messed up on. I don’t like the neighborhood kids, I don’t like that the neighbors can’t keep their dogs leashed…..this is SO not a kid-friendly neighborhood!

*sigh* I hope tomorrow will be a better day.

It’s a beyootiful day!

As soon as Joe wakes up, we’re going to the park. Hopefully, I’ll have the pics edited and uploaded later today *wiggles*

Update: No park today. My daughter decided to go shopping with Mom instead, and when they got home, it was too late for us to go to the park.

HAH! I nearly forgot

The Friday Five

When was the last time you…

1. …went to the doctor?

Uhm, that would be last August when I delivered my son.

2. …went to the dentist?

January 7 to have a broken tooth yanked.

3. …filled your gas tank?

Are you serious? Last month or something? We don’t go out all that much.

4. …got enough sleep?

When I was 8.

5. …backed up your computer?

Today! I’m paranoid about losing all my pictures & stuff, so I backup once a week.
