Early AM

  • Posted on January 9, 2004 at 8:45 am

OK, so it’s not so early. HOWEVER!!! I have been very busily preparing coffee and downloading photos so you can see what I woke up to this morning. It’s…….

SNOW!!!!

Good thing we homeschool ;)

It finally happened….

after 3 months of being housebound, the kids and I FINALLY got to go out today. Dad got the tag situation on the van straightened out and it was SO nice just to waltz through Walmart knowing I didn’t have to hurry Mom’s car back to her. Alannah has been dying to go to the local indoor municipool, so we can start gearing up for that. I do need to figure how we’re going to do it logistically….Daniel can’t swim, and Joe’s just too young. I can’t really rely on Alannah once we get there – she wants to swim laps and get back into shape and hopefully join the swim team. I thought I had a mesh baby sling, but if I haven’t given it away, it’s *deep* in storage.

OH! And Joseph has a shiny new tooth peeking slightly out of his lower gum. He’s officially 6 months old, and is making good use of new skills every day. He was napping on our bed while I took a shower, and I came out to be greeted by this 50 million watt toothless grin. I SO wish I’d've had a camera….that grin sends thrills through my soul *sighs*.

Daniel trips me out every day as well, but not quite in the same heart-gripping way. On the trip to Walmart today he was good as gold, so I picked up some of those fizzy dinosaur eggs to put in his bath. We put it in the tub, and it started to fizz….and I had to peel him off the ceiling. He stood in the tub screaming while the egg fizzed away, and clambered up on my lap. He absolutely *refused* to get back in “dat ucky water”, so I had to hold him dripping and screaming while I pulled the plug.

I’ve gotta get out the food diary and get busy. I put on the *one* pair of jeans I own today, and they’re WAY too snug around the waist. Joe is old enough for me to know it’s not continued excess fluid buildup from the birth etc. This is the biggest I’ve ever been, and I’m absolutely not liking it. I don’t even recognize myself in pictures anymore.

I’m hoooooooome

That was one of the more painless trips I’ve ever had to the dentist. 2 hours later, my mouth is still numb in places LOL. I walked into the office and he started mumbling about a root canal – then he looked at the X-ray. He seemed surprised that I wasn’t in pain – it was infected after all. So, out it came….but fortunately we didn’t need dynamite to get it out.

Today I go

to the dentist to *finally* have the tooth that broke in November pulled. The dentist I’d seen as a child didn’t realize it was “me” when I called to ask if they take my insurance – and they’re making an exception since they’ve known my family for 20-odd years. Thank gawds for that. The tooth doesn’t hurt, but it adds a certain….uhm….flavor to food.

I’m nervous about going. Not about the dentist itself, that’ll be a cakewalk. But I’ve never left Joe for that long before. Yes, I’ve got a bottle of expressed milk standing by, and I’m about to go nurse him for a while to get him to sleep. But AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH I don’t wanna leave him.

Will update when I get back.

I just realized that

I never linked the pictures from the sleepover from hell, so I’ve gone back and done that.

Well, today marks the millionth time

that we’ve seen “Stitch: The Movie”. Daniel loves the movie, and has discovered how to operate the VCR all by himself for the most part, so we watch it. Today while I was changing Joe’s diaper, he climbed up on the exersaucer, stuck his head into the seat part, and was calling “Lilo, where are you?” while looking at the TV through the leg holes. OK, with his toddler pronunciation it was more like “Weewo, wheayou”, but you get the drift.

We’ve officially entered pre-teen angst, if I haven’t mentioned it before. Alannah has adopted “Family Portrait” by Pink as the song du jour, and plays/sings it incessantly. I’m not really crazy about the lyrics (In our family portrait/we look pretty happy/let’s just play pretend/til it comes naturally) but I guess it’s better than other music she could be listening to.

I was hoping I could get a nap in today, but it just wasn’t meant to be, so I’m 20 million kinds of cranky. I lay down on the bed with Joe with hopes of a late-afternoon nap, but she wouldn’t STFU. *sigh*

When do Mommies get “five more minutes”?

OK, OK, OK I know it’s my own damn fault. I stayed up *way* too late talking to this REALLY nice guy online. Or is it early? At any rate, I didn’t get under the covers til nearly 3AM…and my darling sweet DEMONSPAWN daughter had set her alarm for 7:30 so she could get ready for church with my folks. And didn’t wake up with it. And woke ME up. Why how DARE you suggest I’m whining! It’s my blog, and I’ll whine if I want to :P .

Double-shot espresso, anyone?

I’m not EVEN going to post a bunch of resolutions that we all know won’t happen. Instead, I will post my wish for everyone:

I wish, for you…….Enough.

Not too much, or too little. And to quote The Fairly Oddparents – “That’s just vague enough to work!” Well, I hope.
